Spirit of Rugby - Loughborough
The Spirit of Rugby is a Rugby World Cup related legacy project working with 16 – 24 year olds to create and deliver innovative ways of introducing other young people to rugby. The Spirit of Rugby project has been developed in partnership by the RFU and the Spirit of 2012 Trust.
Spirit of 2012 Trust is a Big Lottery Fund endowed body set up after London 2012 to keep alive the spirit of the Games. Spirit of 2012 is an independent trust tasked with helping to secure a lasting social and community legacy from the London 2012 Games. The Trust works in partnership with other organisations and projects to enable young people to take an active part in their communities; whether through sport, art, culture, education or volunteering.
The Spirit of Rugby project will focus on 15 communities across the country; working in 5 communities in RWC host cities, 5 in communities hosting RWC training bases and 5 communities that are remote from the direct impact of RWC. The work will focus on creating new and innovative solutions to engaging groups that aren’t traditionally engaged in rugby and will seek to use the inspiration of both RWC and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
