The Snowy Mountains region is a diverse adventure playground located in the south eastern part of New South Wales starting just south of Australia's capital Canberra and continuing to the Victorian border.
The region spans four local government areas: Cooma, Snowy River, Tumut and Tumbarumba Shires and encompasses the four NSW ski resorts of Perisher, Thredbo, Charlotte Pass and Selwyn Snowfields, as well as, the magnificent Kosciuszko National Park. It’s also home to one of the world’s most significant civil engineering feats, the Snowy Hydro Scheme.

A land of spiritual connection for the indigenous culture for tens of thousands of years, the Snowy Mountains also holds a special place as the once province of European graziers in the mid 19th century.
Today it’s a significant tourism destination that attracts many visitors each year for recreation and relaxation activities in addition to exploring the rich history and landscape.
The ‘’Man from Snowy River’’ folklore was borne out of these parts and it continues with horse riding a big part of the culture of the land.
The region comes alive in the summer months with mountain biking, cycling, fishing, water sports, horse riding, hiking, road touring, numerous major events and festivals. There’s also renowned cold climate wines, truffles, beers, schnapps and Snowy Mountains Cookies!
