15 years of breeding merinos, selecting rams, selecting ewes, keeping them alive and healthy during the Millennium Drought, and the 2010-11 floods. Now we have the wool! Its all less than 18 microns, the weaner wool is down as low as 15 microns.
After shearing I select a few fleeces (the best of the best), offer some for sale as raw wool, and process a few myself. All processed wool is separated into staples, hand-washed, rinsed in rainwater, then dried in front of the fire or on the verandah. I hand-pick the wool to remove grass-seeds and vm (vegetable material), then hand-card the staples into batts. These batts, produced 'slowly' are then offered for sale.
