The Shire of Maldon was a local government area about 140km northwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia, and 35km southwest of the regional city of Bendigo. The shire covered an area of 549km2, and existed from 1858 until 1995.HistoryMaldon was first incorporated as a municipality on 6 August 1858, then as a road district on 2 September 1863.
