ShareBoat

ShareBoat.co is an innovative platform which connects boat owners seeking to share a particular boating experience, with like minded adventurers, on short notice.

The idea originated with CEO Thor Fredriksen when he decided to pitch the idea at Brisbane Startup Weekend 2015, after watching friends who recently took sailing courses found it challenging to get out on the water for some practice. Although there are social events where captains can find crew to join their sailboats they tend to be in the daytime during weekdays, so it seemed like this could be done better using technology.

We want to bring a service to the recreational boating sector that has long been missing but very much needed. There are many boat owners out there who are constantly frustrated with missing out on a good day on the water because they couldn’t secure crew on a short notice basis and equally there are plenty of potential crew who are constantly frustrated because they couldn't get onto a boat because they didn't know where to find an available ride.

We see potential for ShareBoat to get ingrained in boating culture, and get people out more often in the recreational boating space.
