Sewing Inspirations

I am Anette and I have been sewing, knitting, embroidering, crocheting, anything to do with creating really, for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Denmark, Scandinavia, we just never sat down without keeping our hands busy.

My first job as a teenager was working in the local craft shop, minding the business when the owner was away as well as problem-solving patterns for customers and making samples for display. If not already, I was hooked then.

I have trained professionally in all aspects of Dressmaking Techniques, Pattern Design and Tailoring during the late eighties and have gained extensive experience through the years whilst working in various industries relating to Pattern Design and Dressmaking Techniques. These include; Designer, a commercial Pattern Business, teaching at TAFE and later, managed and taught a sewing school in Perth.

Before moving to the South West, I worked as a Pattern Designer, managing the design department and developing new designs for a medical business in Perth, designing pressure garments and dynamic splinting.

Over the last 7 years, I ventured into the world of quilting and started contributing to publications.

Sewing Inspirations, the home of my sewing Classes, is located just 12 minutes outside Dunsborough in beautiful surroundings. Each student has a height adjustable table for drafting and cutting as well as a separate table for their sewing machine. Tools and notions are available for purchase.

When I teach, I endeavor to encourage and provide each student with the confidence to create and develop their own ideas by offering classes packed with information, low numbers and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

There is just so much enjoyment and satisfaction to be had while creating and learning at Sewing Inspirations.
