In July 2009 wine retailer Jim Murphy and Canberra lawyer Michael Phelps bought the Schobers vineyard – one of three prime Clare Valley sites offered by Constellation Wines Australia in a mass clearance of its Australian wine assets.
The iconic thirty four year old Schobers Vineyard is contour planted on rolling hills at the southern end of the Clare Valley about 4 kilometres north of Auburn and adjacent to Leasingham and the Riesling Trail.
It is a premium quality dry grown vineyard first planted in 1977.
It has an area of 120 hectares, 71 of which are cultivated with 53 hectares of shiraz and 18 hectares of cabenet savivignon.
