Ross Woodhouse - Liberal for Warren-Blackwood

Ross Woodhouse is a father, husband, dairy farmer, mentor, teacher, and a natural leader with a deep connection to the natural environment.

The Woodhouse family has farmed in the Augusta-Margaret River area for more than 70 years. Ross has had a successful career as a teacher, school principal and farmer. His teaching career has taken him around Western Australia and central Australia, including work in Indigenous education, and he has mentored and developed young people in agriculture and business.

One of his highest achievements was being named Australian Farmer of the Year in 2010, and in 1989 he was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship for Australian dairy.

Ross currently employs 30 staff and has a cattle herd of up to 7000 on his Karridale/Scott River dairy farms, producing 20 million litres of milk each year. He understands the daily challenges of running a small business.

Ross takes an environmental approach to farming for both holistic and financial reasons. In his own words, if he doesn't look after the land, his farming business would be done with. He is a contributor to his local Landcare group and engages modern energy saving techniques to his farming practice, striving for efficiency.

Health is an important focus for Ross and he has served as Chairman of his local District Health Advisory Council.

In his campaign to represent the people of Warren-Blackwood Ross is actively supported by his partner Karen and young daughters Abbey and Ebony.
