Owned and operated by club professionals husband and wife Ryan and Janelle Smith, RJ Golf offers diversity that no other club in Newcastle can offer.

Ryan Smith – Head Teaching Professional
Ryan has attended several high performance and elite golf coaching training camps hosted by Golf Australia to learn from some of the best coaches and trainers in the world. These coaches include the likes of Ryan Lumsden: 3d biomechanics; Mark Bull and Neil Matthews: England and wales national coaches; Noel Blundell: sports psychology; Stuartt Leong: Golf stats; Brook Salmon: trackman launch monitor training; Chris Smith: strength and conditioning coach, and; Dean Kinney: NSW State Coach. Ryan currently coaches Golf Australia Team member Blake Windred and NSW Junior Team member Jye Pickin. Ryan uses his high performance and elite coaching experience to help his players reach their full potential.

Janelle Smith – Head Professional
Janelle has been a professional golfer for over 13 years. Janelle spent her junior and amateur career in NSW and National Teams and Squads along with being a member of the NSW Institute of Sport for 6 years working with some of the most highly regarded coaches in the world. Janelle turned professional in 2003 and played ALPG events before commencing her PGA Traineeship at Morisset Country Club under the guidance of PGA National Board Member David Stretton. Janelle specialises in (but is not limited to) coaching ladies, having a female perspective of how a woman’s body functions and the natural movements in a golf swing to generate power and consistency. Janelle is very passionate about junior golf after spending 4 years working for JNJG and has a huge interest in the development of junior golf. Charlestown Golf Club run several successful junior programs alongside Ryan and Janelle and have a commitment to the growth of each individual junior in the club as they progress.
