Rhian Phillips Naturopath

Hi, my name is Rhian and I am a Naturopath.

The question that usually follows this statement is, “What is a naturopath?”. Fair question.

Here’s my answer. ‘Naturopath’ is just a broad term used for a health practitioner who treats with a range of modalities such as herbal medicine, nutritional medicine and homeopathy. We believe in treating the whole person, not just symptoms, getting to the root cause. We believe we have the tools that the body needs to heal itself from what ails it without doing harm.


Why did I become a naturopath?

I witnessed the healing power of nature and the benefit it had for people. It made so much sense to use what was in the ground all around us, given to us to use for medicine. My mother overcame her chronic fatigue after a nasty bout of glandular fever through diet and herbal medicine given to her by a naturopath. I experienced the healing power of plants on a small scale in the Australian bush when my bare foot (I have learned my lesson) was bitten by a Fire Ant. It was as painful as it sounds. My uncle disappeared into the bush, and came back with some crushed up leaves. He instructed me to rub it into the affected area. As soon as I did, the pain stopped. I was amazed.
People have used plants to treat diseases and conditions for centuries, millennia even. I think it a wise idea to take a leaf out of their book.

I studied under some wise and knowledgeable lecturers and practitioners at Australasian College of Natural Therapies and obtained an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy. I love the fact that my job is now to walk with people on their journey of health, giving relief when needed or just a listening ear.
