More about Redeemer Lutheran College

Redeemer Lutheran College (RLC) is located on the border of Brisbane and Logan Cities in a semi-rural environment, presently with a Prep to Year 12 enrolment of approximately 1,040 students.

The College is notable for its use of open space - with no building exceeding two stories in height and a network of paths crossing the grounds. Considerable effort is expended on landscaping the grounds. Redeemer is a co-educational Christian school owned and operated by the Lutheran Church of Australia, Queensland District. As a school of the church, it holds that its fundamental role is to offer its students a sound and integrated education within the Christian tradition with clear expression of the Christian faith.

As the name implies, Redeemer Lutheran College focuses on the promotion of the Lutheran denomination of the Christian faith, however, adherents of any belief and culture are welcome subject to acceptance of the College’s policies, practices and traditions. Staff are expected to support a Christian lifestyle and most staff members are practising Christians. Redeemer also has a chaplaincy service which is responsible for devotions and other expressions of religious life.

Redeemer Lutheran College is a high achieving school, with most senior school-leavers scoring strongly in the OP ranking. Historically, an average of 3.8% OP eligible students attain OP1. In 2016, 86.7% of students received OP1-15 and 27.8% of students received OP1-5. Typically, 84% of Redeemer students elect an OP pathway. 96% of eligible students were offered university places in 2016. While the majority of school-leavers proceed directly to university studies, vocational pathways are also supported through TAFE studies and traineeships offered in the senior years. With 37% of students graduating with a VET qualification, many students are able to pursue dual pathways in the senior years.

The College provides outdoor education opportunities for all students with a sequenced program for Year 3 through to Year 11, with the pinnacle being a four-week program for Year 9 students at the Mt Binga Outdoor Education Centre 2½ hours North-West of Redeemer. The College provides a wide range of co-curricular activities as an extension of students' educational experiences; while participation is not compulsory, it is strongly recommended.
