More about Quilpie Heritage Inn

The Quilpie Heritage Inn, formerly known as the Quilpie Hotel is located in the main Street of Quilpie in the East Channel Country in Queensland. One of the only two storey buildings in town it was originally built in 1921, destroyed by fire in 1925, and rebuilt in 1926 by local identity Jimmy Corones. Today it is often, affectionately referred to by the locals as ‘The Brick’.

This recently renovated building has many original features including pressed tin ceilings in the restaurant, reception area, dining hall and first floor landing, Cyprus timber flooring and grand stairwell chandelier. The façade is unchanged. This historical building, the amenities, quality of service and food combined has been described as an ‘oasis’ amongst the dirt and dust of the west Queensland outback, and once you have discovered this little gem, we hope that you will, one day, come back.

Rooms – The 5 refurbished and decorated en suite rooms offer double, twin or single beds, shower room, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, flat screen wall mounted TV, air conditioning, ceiling fan, linen and towels. Drinking water and fresh towels are provided daily.

The spacious economy rooms with shared amenities also have air conditioning, ceiling fan, tea/coffee making facilities, TV and fresh towels every day.

Continental breakfast is included in the room tariffs.

A full length veranda provides additional outdoor seating and sun loungers. Shaded until mid-afternoon it’s a great place to relax and soak up the atmosphere of Quilpie town. Later in the day its sun kissed for a short time, before providing a great viewing platform to watch the outback’s spectacular sunsets.

Restaurant - Our chef takes great pride in sourcing fresh ingredients, and serving beautifully presented dishes. Channel Country beef and seasoned salt and black pepper grilled Barramundi are definite favourites.

Prized polo cross and rodeo memorabilia, grace the walls of the restaurant and a photograph of the original 1921 pub and staff hangs pride of place above the bar. The décor is simple yet stylish, the atmosphere relaxed and homely.

We’re not just a restaurant or a good place to eat, a pub or a wine bar, a sports bar or a resident’s lounge, a hotel or a just bed for the night. We’re not only for the young, or the old, for the discerning traveller or the worker passing through. We are none of these, because we are all of them.

The Atmosphere - We’re your home away from home so you can take the weight of your feet, wash away the days dust, and join us for an evening meal in the beautiful historic dining room. Tell tales of your outback experiences, share todays adventures or swap stories over a glass of wine, or two, and know that a comfortable room and good night’s sleep awaits. When it’s time to go, as many have before, you may also wish you had ‘just one day more’.

WiFi - Wifi is available throughout the hotel.

Services - The Heritage Inn is the booking agent for Queensland Rail and Skinny Dingo Tours, which includes the excellent ‘Outback Mail Run’ and visit to Eromanga, ‘The furthest town from the sea’.

Experience this arid landscape first-hand; visit Alaric, the peaceful Veterans Retreat for morning tea, meet local residents in their home and explore their beautiful garden. Learn about the land and the people who lived here past and present.
