Queensland Boat Inspections owner/operator, Leighton Todd, has been an active part of the marine industry since 1995 and his diverse background is what has given him the training and knowledge required to assist boat buyers today.

From a very young age his passion for boating and the marine industry has been strong and has seen him tackle multiple facets of the marine industry including:

- Deckhanding on a commercial vessel within Moreton Bay: general deckhanding duties and vessel maintenance
- Operating a commercial boat hire business in Hervey Bay: servicing and maintenance of the boats and outboards
- Operating the water sports and boat hire department at Tangalooma Island Resort: service and maintenance of the boats, outboards and watersports equipment
- Managing a marine spare parts business: chandlery and spare parts management
- Managing several marine dealerships and service centres: sales, service/repair and management duties
- Designing and assisting in the build of several fibreglass and aluminium boats
- Outboard servicing and repairs: two and four stroke outboards
- And loads more...

This broad range of experience has also given Leighton the opportunity to obtain product training from industry legends such as John Haines (snr), Alf Stessl and Lindsay Fry to name just a few. Over the years Leighton has also been involved in the sea trialling, research and development and product training of many brands such as Haines Hunter, Mustang, Haines Signature, Horizon, Stessl, MakoCraft, Yalta Craft, Ally Craft, Stabicraft, Razerline, Southwind, Freedom, Stessco, Aussie Whaler and more.

Leighton has also received training over the years for many outboard brands including Yamaha, Honda, Evinrude, Suzuki, Johnson, Mercury, Mariner, MerCruiser and Tohatsu.
