Established by Jean and Cecile Miguet in 1956 and originally named La Provence (reflecting the French region where Jean came from) The vineyard came into Bryce hands in 1980 and has since expanded. Following lengthy legal proceedings in the Federal Court initiated by an ambulance chaser from Melbourne (which we won), We decided on a name change to take the vineyard off the legal spotlight and settled on "Providence": adding the "ID" to the original name. The vineyard, although still very small, has expanded slightly but still focussed on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Permanent residents are Gary the Goat and me!
