More about Prospect High School, Tasmania

Our School
Prospect High School has approximately 410 students from grades 7 to 10 and is situated in the city of Launceston, Tasmania.
Our decision making and behaviour is influenced by our school values of respect, integrity, fairness, empathy and optimism. Our supportive and inclusive school culture is underpinned by the principles of positive behaviour support. Our mission statement is, 'preparing students for effective participation in the world of their time through a deep understanding of important life related matters' and this is elaborated upon in the school's vision statement.
Our school symbol is the eagle and our uniform is based around the colours of green and gold. All students are expected to wear their uniform with pride and represent the school positively in the community.
Our teachers currently use a combination of the Australian Curriculum and the Tasmanian Curriculum depending upon the subject being taught.
Prospect High School was established in 1965 and has a long tradition of achievement across all endeavours. In 2016 we embark on an 8.5 million dollar redevelopment which covers much of our school including classrooms, Art space, Dance/Drama and our Gymnasium. This follows on from recent works to our Materials, Design and Technology area, Outdoor Courts and school oval. All of this development contributes to a modern, comfortable and safe environment that fosters ownership and enables quality teaching and learning to occur in a 21st century learning environment.
In 2016 we look forward to upholding our traditions but also challenging our school community to continually strive for improvement and excellence as we complete the final year of our four year Strategic Plan.
