Proficiency in Learning: learning support services

For many years, it has been my passion to assist students who have either a potential to or have already “fallen through the cracks” in regard to literacy. My interest has involved a lot of research and learning, which is ongoing. It is important to me to support such students in their education so that they don’t become part of the 46 per cent of Australians (ABS, 2012) that have a literacy disability.

I offer an evidence-based approach to support the student. Initial comprehensive diagnostic tests are used for assessment to create a customised course. This will include oral language development, phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.

My services also include assistance with numeracy, which has been a life-long passion of mine. I enjoy Maths and am here to assist those who may need help. Although my degree is in Primary education, I have experience in assisting students from early childhood years to Year 10.

Qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor of Education (Primary)
• Practical and academic research projects regarding literacy and learning
• Passionate interest in assistance in reading
• 25 years of individualised assistance in learning (birth to Year 10)
