Preston Athletic Club Inc.

The Preston Athletics Club began in 1930 as the Preston Northcote Athletics Club. This Club was based at the Preston Football Ground. The Club moved to the Edwards Lake Track in about 1962.

The Preston - Reservoir Women's Athletics Club began in 1957 and was based on a grass area in East Preston opposite the PANCH Hospital. In 1986 the Men's and Women's Clubs joined to form one club known as Preston Athletic Club.

Since the beginning of the Club at least eleven club members have represented Australia in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, most recently Lisa Weightman competing at the London Olympics in 2012.

At their peak the Men's and Women's Clubs have been among the best Clubs in Australia. The Men's Club can also boast of at least six A.F.L. players, a Victorian A.L.P. President, a Preston Mayor and also a Essendon Mayor. Probably the biggest feat for the club would have been winning the "A" grade competition in 1960.

The Preston Athletic Club provides a fun and friendly environment for those 11 years and over to compete in the sport of athletics. We cater for and provide opportunities to participate in competition at any standard, from beginner level up to elite athlete.

We are a family club that is culturally diverse and encourages good sportsmanship. If you wish to compete there is a place suited for you in any of our teams, even on the cheering team. The club will provide you with expert coaching, the equipment required and an exciting social atmosphere all you require is a pair of running shoes.
