The Port Adelaide Football Club was established in 1870 and is the oldest senior football club in South Australia.
It was a founding member of the South Australian Football Association (now SANFL) and became the only pre-existing state league from outside Victoria to join the Australian Football League in 1997.
Notable club achievements include:
- Recognised as Australia's most successful senior football club, with 36 SANFL premierships and 1 AFL premiership.
- Six consecutive premierships 1954-1959 (Australian Record)
- The only senior club to play an undefeated season (1914)
- Four-time Champions of Australia - 1890, 1910, 1913, 1914 (Australian Record)
