Pooh Cottage
Named after Winnie the Pooh this beautifully renovated cottage was first built in 1833 as the gate keeper’s house for the neighboring ‘Wentworth House’. Situated only meters away from the Clyde River in the historic town of Bothwell. Take a step back in time to a simpler life, enjoy the view while fairy wrens dance around you, sit by the river and wait for the elusive platypus, or sip port by the fire. Pooh cottage offers authentic appeal with modern facilities to ensure an enjoyable stay. Just a short 5 minute stroll down the hill you find yourself in the center of Bothwell. The town itself has lots on offer, with two historic hotels both of which serve meals, a petrol station, a large convenient store, a coffee shop and much more. If you are up for a game of golf you can try your luck on the oldest golf course in Australia, ‘Ratho”. The information centre doubles as the Golf Museum. Just on the edge of town you find the award winning ‘Nant’ Whisky Distillery and mill. You can just go for a quick taste at the cellar door, book a guided tour or have a beautiful lunch.
Bothwell is approximately 1 hour drive from Hobart airport.Located in the Central Highlands, it is conveniently situated for day trips to many Tasmanian sites of interest.
