Plant 13 Bowden

Plant 13 is the proud entrance to the gateway for Bowden's new cosmopolitan redevelopment where we offer our guests a unique dining experience that is compelling, enriching and nourishing for both the palate and the soul.

The rich history of our bricks and mortar dates back to 1901 where industrial workers of bygone eras would gather to share a story over a drink or two and to share a meal. The old Bowden site housed up to 18 different industrial plants at one time but never was there a 13th site – superstition would never allow it. Our building affectionately became known as "Plant 13".

We honour that tradition of yester year.

Hospitality and exceptional customer service is not just a mantra at Plant 13, it’s a way of life and the passion of its owners. We make all our guests feel welcome and special and we aim for the reputation as the premium destination for high-quality, affordable dining, coffee and wine.

From the moment you enter Plant 13 under the grapevine covered balcony, you will be greeted by four distinct regions - each offering a separate experience. Watch the action in our "theatre" kitchen as you perch yourself from the lounge and shared plate bar, to the hustle of the restaurant floor or enjoy the sunny calm of the alfresco dining space. Stop by our retail produce shop for locally produced, high-value food products (including every day basics such as milk, eggs, butter, cheese, bread) made on site each day.

Our cuisine can be described as “southern heritage”, with a modern Australian twist inspired by beautiful, locally produced South Australian produce.

Plant 13 will also have an active and commercial kitchen garden. The kitchen garden will not only provide produce for Plant 13’s dishes but will be available for sale in the retail space. As a complimentary feature to the commercial kitchen garden, Plant 13’s interior design features a living inside herb wall on the western side of the premises.
