The Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre Inc. opened its doors in February 1982 in a house in Settlement Rd, moving to Wyndham Ave at the start of 1984 and re-locating to the current Church St.

Each week members of our community enjoy our safe, friendly and stimulating environment in which every individual is informed and empowered to achieve to their full potential, regardless of their skill level.

We also provide a vital service to those who find themselves experiencing financial hardship through our emergency food relief service known as PICAL’s Pantry, as well as support through services such as counselling, free hearing tests, employment services and a Centrelink Agency.

PICAL relies on the assistance of community volunteers across the Centre. We are able to offer many opportunities for volunteer participation in all aspects of our activities. If you are interested in volunteering at PICAL please contact Linda Morrison on 5952 1131.

U3A
Phillip Island U3A was established in 1996, starting with about 30 members and 4 classes. Today we have in excess of 160 members, we run 16 or more classes, various activities and events which include:

PICAL also has a number of community spaces available for use and hire including suitable for meetings, training, social gatherings and community groups.

Special Interest Groups at PICAL
All these groups use PICAL facilities for a gold coin donation.

BUG (Bicycle Users Group)
This group works towards improving the Islands cycling facilities, co-ordinates and conducts rides for all levels, and promotes and encourage cycling as a sport, exercise and social activity Contact Ron on 5956 9357 for further information.

Chess and Backgammon
Do you enjoy the challenge of chess or backgammon? Come along to our friendly get together each Friday. New members and beginners are welcome. Every Friday, 10.00am - 12:00pm.

Embroidery
This vibrant group enjoys teaching and learning new designs and stitches in the wonderful art of embroidery. New members are always welcome. Third Friday of the month, 10.00am - 12.00pm.

60+ Computer club
For the mature computer user! Are you interested in sharing your computer knowledge and learning from others in a casual, relaxed environment? Then this is the group is for you. Every Friday, 2.00pm - 4.00pm

Stitch ‘n’ Bitch
Enjoy a cuppa, chat and craft. Bring along your current creative project, whatever it happens to be. This is a fun, talented group where you will feel most welcome. First Friday of the month, 10.00am -12.00pm.

PICAL Cowes Community Garden
The PICAL Cowes Community Garden is a local food project, providing a focal point within the Phillip Island Community, offering opportunities for activities such as organic vegetable and fruit growing workshops, food swaps, access to local fresh produce and a great venue for meeting like minded people
