About Me:
I have always loved animals, and my family has had a wide range of pets since I was a child, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice and fish. I have worked in many positions in the animal care industry including as a veterinary nurse, animal attendant, dog groomer and in a dog daycare.
My passion is dog training. I completed the National Dog Trainers' Federation Professional Dog Trainers course in 2000, which gave me a good background in dog psychology and learning theory, and a working knowledge of operant conditioning which is the basis of most dog training. I have continued my education in dog training by participating in online courses and attending seminars held by respected and well known trainers both locally and internationally on a wide range of topics including competition obedience, agility, behaviour problem solving, scent detection and search and rescue. I train and compete with my dogs in competition agility and I also instruct at the Agility Dog Club of NSW. I have recently retired my Kelpie Kaos from competition (Avenpart Ontario ADM JDM JDO GD SD) and have a younger Kelpie, Nitro, who will hopefully hit the ring next year.
