Painted Park is run and proudly owned by Kirsten Melis & Paul Dyson
Kirsten's love for horses started at a young age on the other side of the world, in The Netherlands. Starting with Shetland ponies and gradually moving onto bigger ponies and horses, Kirsten always had horses to ride everywhere, for everyone and never shy of a challengeable project. At 15 years old, the racehorses came in her life and Kirsten was hooked and rode in races. After finishing school at 18, Kirsten travelled to Australia on a work holiday.Travelling around and working in the racing industry, where she met her current partner in Perth, Paul Dyson. Paul was born in the racing. His grandfather had a training establishment in Adelaide where Paul was always to be found. Paul went on the be an apprentice jockey for the great Collin Hayes. Paul has ridden many, many winners all over Australia and Asia.
Nowadays Kirsten and Paul run a training establishment for thoroughbred race horses.
Beside the thoroughbreds, they re-educate 'of the track' thoroughbreds and pacers, break in and (re-)educates horses and ponies with a lot of love and passion.
It's a very rewarding and satisfying job!
