Orana Jersey Stud

Welcome to Orana Jersey Stud located in the Macarthur region where dairying began in Australia. Just opposite us is the original Macarthur Estate which once housed 9 separate dairies including the original rotating dairy platform.
Orana began as a boyhood dream in 1965 and over the last 50 years has strived to breed a herd of cows with good type and production. Our last month's rolling average for 305 days is 5983 litres 3.7% protein 222kg 4.9% fat 219kg. In the herd are several cows with lifetime production over 70,000 litres.
The milking herd and baby calves are located at Menangle on 55 acres, while the dry cows are agisted on a neighbouring property and the calves are reared from 6 months to calving on another property 15 minutes away.
In terms of type every cow is classified and Orana has been most successful exhibitor at Sydney Royal 5 times in the last 10 years.
The cow families are derived from cow families I admire. From Francliff stud (Reg Broad and Sons) comes the Ilagays, Raritys and the Roses; from Lightview (via Wollingurry) comes the Sunshines and Serenades; from Ingalala comes the Memorys and Opals, from Aghadreena comes the Poppys, from Buffel Vale the Eves and from Invergelly comes the Buntys and Sunlights.
Orana is not just about cows and many young people have worked and trained here over the years. The most successful have been Angela Varcoe (nee Spence), Brendon Lee, Josh Taylor, James Dalton, Grant Stallarde and Courtney Baird. All have gone on to bigger and better jobs.
Our current staff includes: Mrs Jodie Sullivan, Mrs Leesa Shepheard, Miss Emily Wilson, Mr Wade Whittaker, Mr Paul Hefferen, Mrs Amy Frutner, Mr Jesse Spinks, Mr Lachlan Ferrell and Miss Zoe Hall.
