Nungeena was formed in 1992, by a group of community minded women, who applied for funding to purchase the property where the organisation is located.
The land was significant to our founding mothers because of its location to Mt Beerwah, the mother mountain of the Glass House Mountains group. They acknowledged the spiritual significance of the land to women and immediately began to dream about the possibilites and changes that the land could make for women in the community.
Nungeena acknowledges and respects the Traditional Custodians of the land and its waterways on which we are situated. Nungeena honours the Ancestors and Elders past and present.
