Teaching Testimonials
Read some testimonials from students on the quality of my teaching services.

Jordan Zanchetta (female classical guitar student)
‘I was a student of Bart Stenhouse for 9 years from 2003 to 2013 from when I was age 8 to age 17. Bart has been an inspirational influence in my guitar tuition over the years. Bart has a great knowledge of all genres of music and has a wide range of reference material. When I am unsure what to learn Bart demonstrates a piece from his repertoire. Together we concentrate mostly on classical pieces which I thoroughly enjoy. Bart’s approach to teaching is very proficient. The classical pieces I learn are often complex, however Bart’s delivery method is seamless which makes it simple and straight forward for me to learn. His instructions are clear and precise, so I am able to understand what I am playing.’

Callum Andrews (adult bass student)
‘I have been learning bass guitar from Bart Stenhouse for 7 years. In these 7 years he has taught me multiple uses of different techniques, styles and genres with communication suited to my method of learning. As he has had many years of experience in the music industry in multiple countries, he has been able to teach me more about where my future will go.'

Justin Carr (adult jazz guitar student)
‘I have enjoyed taking weekly jazz guitar lessons from Bart Stenhouse for the last couple of years. I find Bart to be extremely personable and he has all of the characteristics of a very good teacher. His lessons are well structured and paced and delivered with the confidence of someone who has been doing it for a long time.’

Ben Long (bass student)
‘I have been taking guitar lessons with Bart Stenhouse for approximately two years now. His depth of knowledge coupled with his calm and patient approach to teaching make it easy for a beginner to grasp complex musical concepts. During my time learning from him, he has shown a high level of professionalism, punctuality to lesson times and responds in a timely manner to questions via email or phone. His communication skills are highly effective.’

Shavaun Leschke (grade 11 bass student)
‘It is my delight as a student of Bart Stenhouse’s to express the experience I have had with him teaching me. I’ve been learning bass guitar with him for approximately 8 months. When I first started with Bart he quickly found where I was at and started progressing me technically and musically. He explains things very clearly and if there is anything I do not understand he finds a way to explain it so that I do – usually offering a good website or book as further reference. When Bart teaches, he provides many examples and displays the various ways the concept can be implemented in my playing. I am always able to ask Bart any question, knowing he will provide me with a solid answer, going into further detail if it’s necessary.'

Souvik Ray (adult jazz guitar student)
'I have been playing guitar for many years and wanted to learn jazz. The only way I started progressing was when I found Bart. If anyone wants to learn this art form they must have a good teacher. I have been taking lessons for just over one year and I have seen huge improvement in my playing. Bart is not your run of the mill teacher-the reason Bart’s approach works for me is because he gives me direction and I then follow it up and do the hard yards. Like any good teacher Bart will show you the path but the student will need to walk it and that’s how I like it. All the other stuff I can research myself but I want from my teacher is the direction and things I need to be working on. By consistently taking Bart’s advice I have developed my own lesson plans and identified my weaknesses that I need to work on. From a musician’s standpoint Bart is highly original and a prolific composer with an amazing sense of time. Bart is a collaborative teacher i.e. the benefits will be the most when the student takes equal interest and also has his/her say in how the learning process should evolve. Highly recommended for serious musicians.'
