NWMBC is a not-for-profit organisation, providing a valuable service to expectant parents and families in the North West region of Melbourne. Services we provide include monthly newsletter, playgroups, library, information sessions and social events.
NWMBC was established in 1974 as Tullamarine & District Parents of Twins Club by mothers who advertised in the local paper for other families of multiples to share and support each other while raising their children. Initial activities included monthly supper meetings at member's homes, 'casserole banks' for new families and occasional guest speakers.
In 1999, North West Multiple Birth Club Inc was registered as an incorporated association and currently has 70 member families. The club covers the north-west region of Melbourne and is run by volunteer members. The club provides services to members such as playgroup, new parent coffee mornings, information sessions and social events; and is affiliated with the Australian Multiple Birth Association (AMBA). Members have access to all AMBA services such as special needs, higher order multiples and sole parent registers.
