Noble Shadow
Breeders of the
and Warlander
At noble shadow we select our horses for their conformation, temperament, movement, & beauty. On top of this, we want to produce horses that have a link back to the noble past of the medieval tournament and warhorse.
To this end we have selected two breeds of horse (namely the Friesian and Andalusian) that were historically prized by knights, nobles and kings as exceptional mounts and are crossing them to produce a modern performance horse that looks like it has stepped from the pages of an illuminated medieval manuscript. The Friesian /Andalusian is a true “Superhorse” combination, creating a mount with floating movement, flexibility in the joints and an ease of ride that is versatile and competitive in many disciplines.
Not only do we want our horses to look the part, but we use them for the original purposes to which they were bred. Our 5 year old Stallion Valiant has been in training to joust in modern competition since he was first under saddle. He can carry his rider, wearing full authentic armour and gallop past targets that are hit with sword, axe or spear.
Valiant (B Book 1, Sire “Iepe TJ” Dam “Isis”) is being bred with our three carefully selected Andalusian mares this season, to begin our first line of Friesian/ Andalusian foals (Warlander)
