More about No Mind Yoga

No Mind Yoga

Yoga is the effort made by body, breath and mind to become still, centered and equanimous. It's suitable for all levels with more intense postures coming only when the student is ready - you don't need to be flexible to start! This form of Yoga will take you as far as you wish - from gaining strength and flexibility through the structured and progressive sequence, to overcoming the challenges of the mind as the practice evolves into a moving meditation.

Ashtanga Class

In the Ashtanga class I go progressively, step by step through postures of the Primary Series (the sequence of postures practiced most in Ashtanga). Alignment, technique, anatomical context and corrections are explained in a flowing style. While some poses may seem difficult at first, they are suitable for all levels with modifications for those newer to Yoga. What you will notice from regular and steadfast practice is that it not only makes the body very strong and flexible, but also is very therapeutic in creating and maintaining the healthy function in all parts of the body. The body frees and the mind follows.

Location

Classes are held in 4 locations in the Mornington Peninsula and Bayside areas. Please check the image pinned to the top of page for class times.

Teacher Bio: Ryan

Hello I'm Ryan and here's a little about my background into yoga and the mood I aim to bring to class.
I practiced a few different martial arts from age 7-early 20's. It instilled in me the importance of maintaining a regular physical and meditation practice to feel comfortable in my skin.

Increasing travel to Thailand and India over the next 7 years got me hooked on Yoga practice and philosophy. I fell in love with the disciplined sequences of Ashtanga Vinyasa. The way it humbles me daily and softens my ego.
It continues to give benefit to my chronic ailments and makes me happy, peaceful and contemplative.

What I try to teach is the correct way to move, breath and keep the gaze steady. When the awareness of those 3 things grows, you 'move into your body'. The mind un-thinks itself.

I facilitate that process with demonstration and cues. Alignment adjustments and various sequences (Ashtanga/Hatha/Vinyasa inspired) that help the body and mind become stronger and lighter.

Sincere yoga doesn't need to be too serious, feel free to ask questions or crack a joke any time as we explore our potential to thrive on pranic sustenance.
Judgement free on whatever our perceived shortcomings may be. It's all G :)
