Nhulunbuy Corporation

The Nhulunbuy Corporation was established in 1968 under the Mining (Gove Peninsula Nabalco Agreement) Ordinance. We are not-for-profit and receive our authority from an agreement with Rio Tinto Alcan Gove.

We manage the township of Nhulunbuy, the nearby Industrial Estate and the Gove Airport (similar to that of a municipal council). We work out of three sites with our Head Office located in Endeavour Square, the Works Depot on Arnhem Road and Gove Airport.

Our primary responsibilities are the provision of services to Nhulunbuy residents, including:

* road construction and maintenance of footpaths, walkway lighting, traffic control and parking
* water reticulation
* sewerage treatment and reticulation
* the Gove Waste Management Facility, garbage collection, garden waste collection and street cleaning
* stormwater drainage
* vector (mosquito) and weed control
* town planning and land development including building control
* parks and gardens
* sport and recreation facilities including sports ovals and the town swimming pool
* television services
* regulatory services including animal control
* community services including the monthly town markets and school holiday activity programs
* Gove Airport
* Nhulunbuy Cemetery
* disaster management

We have a team of 25-30 staff who are dedicated to providing exceptional service to the Nhulunbuy township.
