This page has been created by members of the Newington Public School P & C to keep our community up to date with activities being undertaken by us as well as any useful information we think our school's parent and caregiver community would like to hear about.

Please remember it is not Newington Public School's Facebook page and the views, opinions and information shared do not represent those of the school, its' teachers or its' administrators.

The Newington Public School P & C consists of a dedicated team of parents and caregivers who give freely of their time to, amongst other things, fundraise to help the school provide our children with the best possible education and to help them with basic running costs for things like electricity, book and classroom smart boards that are not covered by the Education Department.

In the spirit of inclusiveness, all members of our community have a chance to provide constructive feedback and comments, and connect with other members of the Newington Public School parent and caregiver community.

In the spirit of Facebook however, we need to let you know that our Facebook page is NOT a place to air any issues or concerns that you might have about the school itself. These need to be directed to the school either in person, via email on newington-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or via telephone on 9748 7933

We ask also that you refrain from sharing any personal information on our Facebook page - the page is a public forum.

We also request that you do not share photos of children at the school to this page and we will not share photos on this page unless the parents of those children have given us the express authority to do so.

Commenting Rules of Engagement:
We won't remove your comment just because we don't like it. This is all our school P & C community forum, and we all deserve to be heard. But we do have a few simple rules that we'll apply out of respect for other Facebook fans and others who might be mentioned on our Facebook page.

Removal of posts:
We reserve the right to delete posts that violate these principles and guidleines, and to block users who repeatedly violate the principles, or otherwise abuse the forum.

No name-calling!:
If you don't like another fan's comment, say so. If you have something to say to Newington Public School, let them know not us. Just try to use the same courtesy you'd expect on the street, in a mall or (ideally) with your grandmother or clergyperson.

Out of respect for the privacy of all those in our community, we may also remove a post or comment that refers to any parent, teacher, school administrator or student by name.

No profanity, please:
We acknowledge there's a lot of wiggle room these days on the definition of "profanity." Please use your common sense and network television as a guide. OK, maybe not the latter. But you know if you've crossed the line. Again, apply the "grandmother or clergyperson" rule. Would you be embarassed for them to see your comment? That's a pretty good test.

No advertising or spam:
You have something to sell, or provide services or want a job. That's for your own Facebook page, not ours. "Spam," whether to advertise or simply repeat any message multiple times on our Facebook wall, is also prohibited.

We'll let you know:
If we remove your post, we'll attempt to contact you to let you know, and point you to this policy. We're not in the business of making comments disappear. If you don't believe us, have a look. We believe that social media like Facebook is not ours to control for self-serving purposes.
