Newfarm Punjabi Sports Club

Newfarm Punjabi Sports Club (NPSC) is an incorporated non-profit organisation that promotes the Punjabi culture here in Brisbane, Queensland through numerous sporting, cultural and festival activities.

Our club name, Newfarm Punjabi Sports Club (more commonly known as Newfarm) derives from a tradition made more than 33 years ago. In 1980 a group of Indian (Punjabi) friends who wanted to get together on a weekly basis began playing football at New Farm Park every Saturday. This tradition continued every Saturday for numerous years and in return the club started growing and now has a full committee with seven professional and experienced people from both the private and business sectors who volunteer their time to run this great club. Today NPSC takes part in numerous sporting events, cultural activities and functions throughout Australia. The club is becoming increasingly important to the community and is the main club in the region that supports cultural development through sports for the Punjabi Sikh Community of Brisbane. Currently the club is made up of the following teams:

• Senior Men’s football teams
• Senior/Junior Women’s football team
• Youth Teams

The club has over 200 families who are members of the club and take part in the club in some form. Each year the club takes part in numerous sporting tournaments and cultural activities that are held right around Australia. Some of these events attract people in the tens of thousands both nationally and internationally. These events consist of:
