NAWMA

The Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA) is a Local Government Regional Subsidiary of the Cities of Salisbury and Playford and the Town of Gawler.

It also provides waste management services to client Councils including Barossa, Barunga West, Clare/Gilbert Valley, Copper Coast, Goyder Regional, Light Regional, Mallala, and Yorke Peninsula.

NAWMA coordinates kerbside waste management collection in the Playford, Salisbury and Gawler region. The three-bin collection service incorporates household waste, recyclables and garden/food organics.

In its core collection region, over 50% per cent of waste was diverted from landfill through recycling in 2015-16. Recyclables also include material from a hard waste collection program.

At its Resource Recovery Centre, located at Gate 3, 1 Bellchambers Road, Edinburgh North, NAWMA administers and operates both the Baling of residual waste for its Uleybury landfill; and
Resource Recovery Centre, incorporating a public drive through Waste Transfer Station, a Salvage & Save retail operation and Scout Recycling Centre.

At its Main Office at 71-75 Woomera Ave Edinburgh, NAWMA administers and operates a:

Waste Processing Facility for the sorting of recyclables for market;and
Environment Education Centre as an interactive facility to promote environmentally sustainable waste management practices.

NAWMA has established a proud record in delivering best practice in waste management. It has successfully implemented policies and procedures aimed at reducing the amount of waste being sent to landfill.

Increasingly, NAWMA's focus will be on resources recovery, recycling and re-use to ensure waste management is conducted to even higher levels of environmental and economic sustainability on behalf of the communities of our constituent Councils
