Natural Steps Family Day Care

I've been operating a family day care service with Bright Stars Family Daycare since my first son was 11 months old. I had previously gained experience in long day care and completed my Diploma of Children's Services, so it seemed like a natural step to make when we began our own family.

We have grown to love sharing our home and family, the close friendships and learning opportunities from a small and mixed age group is very rewarding. We continue to change and add to the learning environment; children are now able to enjoy messy play in the mud kitchen, planting and harvesting vegetables in the garden, and being able to create whenever they feel inspired with the always accessible outdoor art/craft area. We also have a large lawn area, a mulberry tree that the children like to climb and a sandpit with access to resources and loose parts. When the children would like some peace they can choose one of the quiet areas with books, puzzles, felts boards etc.


Natural Steps Family Day Care Philosophy
Our environment enables open-ended play, which evolves through the children’s interests, strengths and abilities. The children are able to independently explore and make discoveries, and I highly believe in supporting children to develop and test their own theories about the world around them.
As an educator and Mum I strive to make all families feel welcome, comfortable, safe and confident. I allow the children to make safe choices and we follow a relaxed, comfortable routine allowing for individual preference and choice. I believe in nurturing each child’s individuality and supporting them to have the best possible day that they are capable of that day.
