More about National Primary Games

The NPG is a unique Sports Carnival for girls and boys aged U8-U14, representing their school, club or association in teams of all levels. They will compete in a feel good atmosphere against clubs and schools from all regions with the support of the Australian Olympic Committee which includes the presence of Olympians over the weekend. Competitions will be coordinated by Sporting bodies (local, state and in some cases national) and is set to be held over the last weekend of the July school holidays in NSW – 21st and 22nd July 2018.

Tamworth is gifted with extraordinary sporting facilities and excellent accommodation options, the envy of any regional city in Australia. The NPG also includes a Games Celebration Function (GCF) which includes guest Olympians. At the 2016 NPG we welcomed 2008 Beijing Bronze Medallist/2012 London Olympic Kayakers Lyndsie Fogarty, Chantal Minchin and Hannah Davis along with Australian Olympic Committee representative Ashleigh Knights.

2015 was our inaugural year and we had an amazing response to this event. We were fortunate enough to welcome 1500 children across 12 different sports to Tamworth from places across QLD, NSW and the ACT. We're tremendously excited to see potential growth across this event in years to come.
