Nalandra was opened by His Eminence Zimwock Rinpoche, who named the centre after his seat in Tibet, Nalandra Monastery. It is the first Dharma Centre to open under the banner of the Australian International Vajrayana Buddhist Institute (AIVBI), founded by Rinpoche in 2014. A centre for study and meditation, Nalandra is an inspiring place to receive teachings, practice meditation and attend many special events, which are held throughout the year.
The mission of the AIVBI is to promote and support peace and non-violence, to encourage religious and social harmony amongst all people, to relieve the suffering of animals, and to preserve and extend the teachings and practices of Tibetan Buddhism. In particular, the AIVBI makes the many profound and esoteric Vajrayana teachings and practices of the Tsarpa Sect of the Sakya School available to all who seek them.
The AIVBI is a registered not-for-profit company with charitable status pending.
