It is entitled Randai as a Contemporary Dramaturgy: Obstales and Insights from an Intercultural Transposition, and addresses a broad spectrum of issues raised by the presentation of neo-randai by and for Australia's cosmopolitan and largely urban society. It includes the perspectives of performers, creative collaborators (composers, etc) technical collaborators (riggers, production designers) as well as the audience interface in a variety of contrasting contexts. It reflects on the subject position of the auteur, on post-modern, urban and Malay magic-al mindsets and on analog counterpart performance modalities that arise in a similar conceptual form within the western performance-scape. It is intended to be accompanied by 3 full length dvds of the case studies - neo-randai productions The Horned Matriarch: Story of Reno Nilam (1998), The Ballad of Boldenblee (2004), and The Butterfly Seer (2006).

It will soon be available in the National Library of Australia and Monash Uni Library but at present only online or at Uni Newcastle NSW.
