MRM Lawyers is one of the leading law firms in Newcastle and has been established for over forty years. Our high profile in the Newcastle, the Hunter and the New South Wales Central and North Coast began in the 1960’s as Moroney Rutter & Mantach Solicitors with offices in 'Yorkshire House' 44-46 Watt Street, Newcastle until 2006. In 1975 offices were also opened in Mayfield in the newly built Ironworkers Centre in order to be more accessible to our clients. Finally in 2006 the two offices centralised at Level 1 of the Ironworkers Centre. Max Mantach, local legal 'identity' remains an active Practitioner within the Firm he founded with the late Brian Moroney and Robert Rutter in 1969. His son Paul Mantach, also a respected Lawyer with over twenty seven years local experience is a Partner in the Firm along with leading Family and Commercial Lawyer Stephen Bray, again with over thirty years local experience and expertise. The partnership team is completed by Martin Kelly and Wayne Dever who have both been with the Firm over thirteen years and have built excellent legal reputations. All partners are Hunter locals and obtained their training and experience within the Firm.

On the 1st May, 2008 the Singleton Law Practice of Smith Dunlop Lawyers joined MRM cementing the commitment of MRM to provide exceptional, personal and professional legal services to the communities of Newcastle and the Hunter as well as the Central, Mid and North Coasts of New South Wales.
MRM is proud of the rich history of the Smith Dunlop firm in Singleton which was founded by prominent lawyer Arthur Batson Shaw in 1892 and joined by highly respected Singletonian, Mr Colin Dunlop in 1927 to be 'Shaw Dunlop Solicitors'. In 2003 Ms Donna Smith took over the firm to become 'Smith Dunlop Lawyers'. MRM Smith Dunlop Lawyers now continue the proud tradition of serving the people of Singleton and the wider community and are supported by very experienced consultants in Peter Dunlop, Donna Smith and Milton Bailey.

The rich history of Thompson Norrie Solicitors
On the 1st April, 2010 the Maitland Law Practice of Thompson Norrie Solicitors joined the MRM Firm.

Like Smith Dunlop the Maitland Law Practice of Thompson Norrie is steeped in history and tradition dating back to 1864 when Mr Richard Windeyer Thompson commenced practice in the Maitland area. Mr Charles Norrie founded the legal practice Norrie & Norrie around 1880 and in 1963 the two firms, both with established reputations for providing legal excellence in the Hunter, amalgamated to form Thompson Norrie Solicitors.
MRM is proud to announce that business and local government Accredited Specialist George Williams and property law Accredited Specialist Peter Kirsop continue the outstanding history of Thompson Norrie Solicitors under the banner of MRM Thompson Norrie Lawyers.
