Formed in 1899, Mornington Racing Club was essentially the successor to the Baxter’s Flat Racing Club which first raced in 1856 near Baxter Park.
In August 2010 Mornington Racing Club became part of Melbourne Racing Club, joining their existing racecourses of Caulfield and Sandown.
Mornington Racecourse is now home to one of the richest country races on the racing calendar, the Mornington Cup.
