Molly and Me Barkery

The Dog Behind The Name:

Molly is an English Staffodshire Bull Terrier and has been a part of our family since 2008 when she was just a pup!

When Molly was 5 years old, we were living in North Queensland, and the unthinkable happened. Molly was bitten by an Eastern Brown Snake. Within minutes she collapsed and we got straight in the car to take her to the vet. It was devestating watching Molly's condition deteriorate. Her breathing became almost non existant and her gums turned a white/grey colour. We were lucky enough to get Molly to a vet in time and after 2 rounds of anti-venom and a few days on constant watch at the vet, Molly pulled through!

The next few months were tough on Molly. She was a nervous wreck and very weak. We were advised by the vet that to give her the best chance of recovery we needed to make sure she was on a good diet. When I read the labels and ingredients lists of the foods we had been feeding her, I was shocked at the amount of ingredients that were artificial! There were ingredients in some of her treats that I didn't even know how to pronouce!

We immediently set about changing her diet but I had a hard time finding natural treats that Molly would eat. She would either turn her nose up at them or I would find them buried all over the yard. Feeling frustrated, I set about researching some recipes for dog treats that used all natural ingredients. The first recipe I made for Molly was a peanut butter biscuit. Success! Not only did Molly eat them but she would stand at the cupboard where they were kept and whinge!

Fast forward a few years and I was not only making treats for my own dog but for neighbours and friends dogs too! I quickly realised I was not the only one looking for healthy, natural dog treats. Molly was the inspiration behind my business so it only seemed fitting to include her in the name...In 2014 Molly and Me Barkery was born!
