More about Mindarie Senior College

Mindarie Senior College (MSC) is a purpose built Senior College, architecturally designed to suit the education needs of young adults. It has forged a reputation as the school of choice in the local area, where responsibility and independence are embraced.

Mindarie Senior College is located 39km north of the city of Perth in the northern coastal corridor. It is part of an education hub, sitting alongside two independent private schools. Mindarie Senior College draws students from Kinross, Mindarie, Quinns Rock, Yanchep, Two Rocks and Gingin. In the coming years, the College will have a local area intake zone, which will affect future enrolments.

Mindarie Senior College had 893 students in 2012 across two year groups. The College has the largest Year 12 cohort in the state each year with over 400 students. In 2013 and 2014 we expect a significant reduction in student numbers due to the half year cohort; however, this number will increase in 2015 with two full cohorts.

The diverse socio-cultural background of students represents 27 nationalities; however, the vast majority of our population are Australian, New Zealand, British and South African. As the school of choice in the area, MSC draws students in from over 40 different secondary schools, including 16 private schools.

In order to provide the necessary care and guidance to each student, Mindarie Senior College has in place a Mentor program that closely monitors and nurtures the well-being and progress of the individual student. All staff at the College mentor a small group of students throughout their time at the College.

A unique timetable structure exists at Mindarie Senior College to allow students greater flexibility and access to a variety of learning opportunities. MSC has a four day extended timetable, allowing Wednesday to be used for additional programs such as Workplace Learning, VET and ATAR tutorials.

The College offers a wide range of courses. There are over 40 courses, of which 20 are ATAR courses. The College offers seven internal VET courses and students can access over 13 external VET courses attending one day a week outside of the College.

Our professional and enthusiastic staff are selected on merit based on their skills and commitment to meeting the needs of senior school students.
