More about Melbourne Laggers

Due to changes to the Building Code of Australia (BCA), acoustic lagging of PVC waste pipe is now required to meet the new regulations for containing noise caused by the turbulent flow of waste water through pipes.

As specialist pipe laggers, Insulspec Solutions has been installing pipe lagging throughout greater Melbourne, including a recent project at the Somerville Police Station.

From our experience, we have found GreenLag SQ acoustic pipe lagging to be highly effective and delivers many benefits in health, safety, cost-effectiveness, ease of installation, acoustic performance and environmental-friendliness.

GreenLag SQ acoustic pipe lagging incorporates an innovative material called QuietWave BioFoam, which has exceptional environmental, health and noise-reducing qualities. It’s safe for pipe laggers to install and safe for building occupants. In addition, QuietWave BioFoam is PVC and phthalate free, and has low volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Due to its resilience and softness, the material requires less installation time than other products.

With flat foam that is 15mm thick, GreenLag SQ acoustic pipe lagging is thinner than convoluted foam pipe lagging that is 25mm thick. This results in 12.7% less material needed for 100mm pipe.

From a safety perspective, the fire-resistant foil barrier is Group 1 fire rated, so fire protection does not depend on an additional layer.

Test results show that the structure of GreenLag SQ provides better noise reduction compared to other products with the same weight and thickness. With this high level of effectiveness it exceeds the acoustic requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) — surpassing RW+Ctr 40 for habitable rooms and Rw+Ctr for non-habitable rooms.

As specialist pipe laggers who have completed many projects throughout Melbourne, we will be glad to visit your site, discuss your situation and offer a solution for PVC waste pipe lagging that meets the acoustic requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
