Megan Heffernan Occupational Therapy for Children

Based in Naracoorte in the Limestone Coast Region of South Australia, I provide private Occupational Therapy services to children aged 0-12 years experiencing developmental challenges impacting on their ability to participate independently and confidently in daily activities and routines that are important in their lives. Services are provided in close partnership with parents, working towards specific goals they have identified as meaningful to their child, and their unique family situation. I have worked with children with developmental challenges and disabilities for over 9 years, across a range of diagnoses including developmental delay, sensory processing disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia), Dysgraphia, ADHD/ADD, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and many more.

Following appropriate assessment, support may be provided to the child and family through centre-based therapy as well as visits to the family home, childcare centre, kindergarten, school and other relevant environments. Service provision is specifically tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs, facilitating learning and development, and closely supporting the parent-child relationship and interactions. Support and education is provided to parents to assist them in understanding their child’s needs, allowing them to best support their child at home and in the broader community beyond the therapy setting.

• Infant massage
• Sensory-processing and integration challenges
• Fine and gross motor skill development
• Handwriting difficulties
• Feeding and mealtime challenges
• Toilet training
• Sleep difficulties
• Attention/concentration and self-regulation

I am committed to the provision of high quality therapy and intervention, informed by the latest available evidence and clinical experience.

Various educational workshops are available for parents and teaching staff.

Megan Heffernan Occupational Therapy for Children is registered to provide supports for National Disability Insurance Scheme participants.

You may also be eligible to receive Carers Allowance from Centrelink to help cover the costs of Occupational Therapy services.
