A BIT ABOUT ME >>>>>>
Born & raised a local girl in Ballina with a passion for horses, Maria's earliest artistic memories are the hundreds of horse drawings she created during her childhood. After marrying in 1981 and then finding herself at home with two small children, Maria decided to begin painting which she felt had always been calling.

She took endless classes locally and interstate to further her knowledge over the years and began to teach around her dining table. With her home beginning to resemble an art studio and needing more space, Maria opened Ballina's first commercial art studio where she ran classes, sold supplies and received commissions for private art works. After several years in that shop Maria decided yet again that she needed more space for teaching & she and John relocated to Uralba in 2002 and built a new home and larger studio where she has continued to teach.

In July 2012 Maria opened a Pop Up Gallery in Ballina and was able to continue there for 2 years until the building was eventually (sadly ) sold .
It was an extremely successful venture with sales and many private commissions achieved during that time.
In 2015 Maria had a fantastic opportunity to be in a large vacant shop in Ballina's main street for 2 months ...its was one of the busiest and best times of her Art career !
l. Over the years Maria has developed a fine foundation of skills in acrylic and oil and has shared her knowledge with countless students over the years. The subject matter of Maria's paintings continues to change, inspire and surprise the people who love her art!!!

A member of BACCI (Ballina art and craft Centre ) and PAN (Practicing artists network ) Maria exhibits with these groups in joint shows .
Maria has been a member of BACCI since its inception and first exhibited her work with BACCI in 2003. Maria is a past member of Lismore Art Society and Ballina Art Society and cherishes the time she spent there learning.

Maria's work is collected both locally and overseas and she has received many awards from local shows and art exhibitions over the years. These include prizes in Southern Cross Art Festival, Lismore Art Club exhibitions, TURSA Art Prize, Alstonville Show Society.

At the moment Maria teaches painting classes held in her own large, peaceful painting studio at Uralba and she is passionate about imparting her knowledge and seeing her students grow and excel as painters. Maria continues to change the subject matter and style of her work because it keeps challenging her to learn more diverse techniques and skills.

Learning to see the beauty of the world through artist's eyes is really what Maria loves about teaching.

Maria is excited about the upcoming possibilities that will come her way
