Our History ...

Almost 13 years have now passed since Marius and Rose Dakin opened the doors to their second bead shop in Margaret River, located in the fabled wine region of Western Australia's pristine South West.
That was in April 2002.
Margaret River Beads was born out of their desire to escape the torrid wet season of Western Australia's Kimberley region - where the couple had been living since 1998, after opening their first shop in Broome they called Broome Beads.
It was there they began their beading journey out of a 30 square metre shop.
Because the self-serve formula had worked so well in Broome, they decided to design their new shop in a similar way - and adopt the same philosophy.
It has worked - and today, more than 12 years on, Margaret River Beads have a permanent stock range of 7500, plus an enviable repository of antique, rare and collectible beads they have sourced and hand-picked from around the world - their shop has become synonymous with the beading fraternity.

A little bit about us ...

Marius and Rose are passionate about beads and sharing their extensive knowledge and hands-on expertise to their in-store and online customers.
These days, Rose runs the front end of the shop and makes all the jewellery. Her work is exceptional and original - incorporating strong influences from her Dene Indian culture of Northern Canada. She has also gained much inspiration from her travels and meeting people from all walks of life.
Marius, a former journalist and publisher handles the business side of things. He also sources the beads and findings from all over the world which make their collection a must-see for beaders and visitors alike. He also builds and maintains the three websites linked to their business.
