Macintyre River Retreat

“Rocky Bar” is situated on the Macintyre River in Northern NSW, 4 hours from Brisbane, 45 minutes south east of the QLD border town of Goondiwindi, 3 hours from Tamworth and 1 ½ hours from Moree and just 15 minutes from the village of Yetman.

“Rocky Bar” is the ultimate escape and offers an enormous range of activities for you to consider. If you want to soak up the breathtaking scenery and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living the river offers some of the best picnic, swimming and kayaking spots imaginable.

If fishing is your activity, the Macintyre River is abound with Yellow Belly and Murray Cod. We are very mindful of our river and each year we put a number of fingerlings back into the river. We do ask however that you eat the fish that you catch here and that you practice a “catch and release” policy for the enjoyment of all fishermen.

For hunters, we have an abundance of wildlife. Pigs, rabbits, foxes and the occasional goat can be found. We do ask hunters to be very mindful of sheep, cattle and horses on our property and insist on no pig dogs.

Apart from offering the above, “Rocky Bar” is still a working farm where we run sheep, cattle and horses. Occasionally there will be shearing, crutching or cattle work happening. 4WD vehicles are a must to access the river and hunting areas.

Yetman has a hotel (The Codfish) and a basic corner store. Goondiwindi offers a huge range of hotels, supermarkets, coffee shops, gift shops, water ski park and golf course. Please be aware of distance and ensure sufficient fuel and provisions.
