The Nambucca River town of Macksville is a fishing and oyster-farming centre 12 kilometres upstream from Nambucca Heads. This attractive town services a fertile and prosperous North Coast district where the main crops are bananas and other tropical fruits. Boating and fishing are both popular pastimes in Macksville, and there are boat ramps on both sides of the river.
Travel 25 kilometres west of Macksville to find a piece of Australian cultural history - the original 'Pub With No Beer', now a brewery, at Taylors Arm. Visitors will be pleased to discover that in spite of the song, the pub is plentifully stocked.
