Learning Lynx a school readiness program

Learning Lynx is a program designed by qualified Primary School teachers where children are given the opportunity to develop a range of skills that will enable them to have a smoother transition to Primary School.

We realise the importance of confident and happy children entering into the Primary foundation years and the impact these factors have on their ability to learn. Our program is designed to run alongside both 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten sessions and complement the play-based elements of these programs.

In a paper written by the Australian Research Alliance states "What children know and can do at the time they start school (school readiness) helps determine their educational and lifelong success. This is never more true than today. Today's economy demands a highly educated citizenry, meaning that children must be prepared for their own futures more than any other generation in the past" (from Bruner, C, Seven things policy makers need to know about school readiness).

What we offer:

Children aged 4-5
Introduces:
* alphabet symbols and phonemic awareness (letter sounds and how they work together to create words)
* strategies for reading
* tracing/writing letters
* high frequency words (most commonly used words)

Children aged 3-4
Introduces:
* alphabet symbols
* alphabet sounds
* pencil grip
* numeracy skills, such as recognition of numbers, shapes and patterns
through a structured teaching program using an enriched language experience.
