Laucke Poultry - Commercial Layers

Laucke Poultry was established in 2008 after struggling to find healthy young layers around the rural north-east of Adelaide.

Day old laying chickens are raised, which have been professionally sexed to 98% accuracy so we can assure that hens are being supplied.
We believe in keeping the animals in a natural state so they have not been debeaked and the wings have not been pinioned.
They have been vaccinated and are kept in sheds until 5 weeks of age to protect them from predation by foxes, wild cats and other birds.
They are then let out during the day to roam freely around the farm and in the paddocks of green grass when it is available.
The birds are actively in contact with myself, our children, and farm dogs so that are quite placid.

Depending upon availability at the time of ordering and the hatching rate, we stock Isa Browns, White Leghorn-cross & the black Australorps-cross. All of which are bred specifically for eggs and if given the correct care and diet will so for many, many years to come.

In October 2010 we began offering our 'Merrina Layers Mix' for sale. This is the same feed that our layers and other poultry are put on from 5 weeks of age. It is a fresh, high-quality grain mix which is made here on-site at the farm and then bagged in 30kg bags.
This mix has become very popular with the demand increasing, especially in Adelaide. Our aim was to be able to offer our customers a very affordable feed, which we know works.
The feed is available from several locations in and around Adelaide.
