Italian for ‘Little Tavern’, the recently opened ‘La Tavernetta Osteria’ in Leichhardt is your gateway to the indulgence of Italy. Having worked as head Chef at one of Italy’s Michelin Hat Hotel restaurants, Andrea Civello showcases his wealth of culinary skill upon a menu of modern Italian Cuisine that ranges from Northern Venetian ‘Aperitivi’ and ‘Cicchetti’ (Aperitifs and Tapas) to Southern Sicilian specialities such as ‘La Caponata Siciliana’ and the popular ‘Tortino di Melanzane, Ricotta e Cioccolato’ (Eggplant, Ricotta and Chocolate dessert)
The venue is the perfect concoction between cosy and rustic whilst withholding a breezy open design which resonates well with the ambiance of an authentic Italian Eatery. A place where you can enjoy a coffee, an Aperol Spritz and the pleasant buzz of conversation as you watch the passers by from the piazza. La Tavernetta’s Chefs Vincenzo Livia and Andrea Civello ensure an authentic Italian dining experience. Snag a seat for Aperitivo hour (4:30 – 7pm) and settle in for chilled drinks, best paired with a pick from the menu. Other signature dishes include Spaghetti Chittara made fresh on the premises in a flavoursome Swordfish ragu or perhaps try the home made Gnocchi served on a skewer with Fontina Cheese, Champignon Mushrooms and Pork Sausage.
